Hingstons of Wilton has dated this Queen Anne Laburnum Chest to the 18th Century.
This Queen Anne Laburnum chest was made circa 1710.
but this chest is made using the less dramatic cuts of the tree. It looks very much like walnut, but the colour is slightly darker and the mouldings are harder.
We can only assume that this chest was made on a large estate by the country cabinetmaker using the surplus timber.
It has the usual combination of 2 short and 3 long graduated oak lined drawers under, all fitted cast brass engraved swing handles.

It stands on bun turned feet.
