FAQs

The French Rococo style, prominent during the 18th century under Louis XV, is characterised by asymmetrical designs, flowing serpentine curves, and elaborate natural motifs such as C-scrolls, acanthus leaves, and floral garlands.

Master cabinetmakers typically utilised solid hardwoods like walnut, oak, and fruitwoods, employing traditional joinery techniques alongside hand-carved ornamentation and parquetry veneering.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting the hand-carved detailing, the presence of old joinery such as pegged mortise and tenon joints, natural timber ageing, and the absence of modern machine marks.

Balancing ornate period pieces with minimalist walls, neutral textiles, and modern lighting allows the craftsmanship of the bed to stand out without overwhelming the bedroom space.

Maintaining antique wooden furniture requires keeping it out of direct sunlight, avoiding extreme humidity fluctuations, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish and protect the timber.
