FAQs

Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often referenced earlier periods such as Georgian and Sheraton revivals, favouring lighter proportions and refined craftsmanship compared to heavy Victorian designs.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, and satinwood, often featuring secondary woods like pine or oak for drawer linings and carcases.

Authenticity is determined by examining dovetail joinery, which was hand-cut or machine-assisted in this era, alongside original brass hardware, timber shrinkage patterns, and secondary wood markings.

Integrating period furniture into contemporary spaces is achieved by pairing the rich wood tones with neutral walls, minimalist lighting, and curated decorative accessories to create textural contrast.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and applying occasional natural beeswax polish while avoiding silicone-based commercial sprays.
