We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian Wellington chest dates from around 1900 and is constructed from mahogany with a warm brown timber colour, complemented by seven graduated oak-lined drawers fitted with rectangular brass handles. The upright piece includes a moulded edge to the top, a hinged locking pilaster down the side to secure the drawers, and a solid plinth base at the bottom. The upright form measures 106.5 cm high, 53.5 cm wide, and 42 cm deep, providing an upright storage solution. In a contemporary home, this piece suits a gentleman's library, study, or hallway as a compact storage chest for documents or small items. The hinged locking mechanism allows the seven drawers to remain secure when closed.

A Wellington chest is a tall, narrow chest of drawers typically fitted with seven drawers, secured by a hinged side flap or pilaster that locks all drawers simultaneously using a single key mechanism.

These chests were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany, walnut, or rosewood, often featuring pine or oak drawer linings and fitted with solid brass drop handles or brass escutcheons.

Authentic nineteenth- and early twentieth-century examples display hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass locking mechanisms on the right-hand side pilaster, and signs of age-appropriate wear to the timber finish.

Its narrow footprint allows it to serve as functional storage in tight spaces such as alcoves, home offices, or hallways, adding historical warmth alongside contemporary furnishings.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage or fading.
