This nineteenth-century Grand Regency chiffonier is constructed from rosewood displaying a rich brown colour with prominent flame grain patterns across the double doors. The lower cupboard sits on a plinth base and secures with a pair of panelled doors divided by a central brass door strip, while the upper section consists of three graduated open shelves supported by ring-turned columns at the front and square splat uprights at the back. A fret-cut gallery edges the uppermost shelf. Visible details include a square edge to the top surface of the base cabinet and a simple keyhole escutcheon. Measuring 180.34 cm in height, 96.5202 cm in width, and 35.5601 cm in depth, this piece provides practical storage and display space. It integrates well into a traditional living room, dining room, or hallway as a display cabinet and credenza, offering surface display space on the open tiers alongside enclosed shelving behind the lower cupboard doors.

A George IV chiffonier dates from the 1820s and typically features a low cupboard base topped with open graduated shelves supported by turned or carved columns. Constructed primarily from rich woods such as rosewood, these pieces were designed for both storage and decorative display.

Chiffoniers from this era were commonly crafted using solid timber bases with figured rosewood or mahogany veneers. Supporting columns were turned, and fittings often included cast brass door strips, keyhole escutcheons, and working locks.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, hand-sawn veneers showing slight natural irregularities, and period-correct hardware made of cast brass. The underside and back panels generally show original hand-planed timber surfaces.

Place the chiffonier against a neutral or dark backdrop to accentuate the natural figure of the rosewood grain. Use the upper graduated shelves to store books or curate ceramic collections, while utilizing the enclosed cabinet below to conceal modern items.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year to preserve the timber finish. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer cracking or colour fading.
