Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large wool Kilim carpet originates from 1930 and follows a traditional Persian style. Constructed from wool and cotton, the piece displays a cream and rust red colour palette with intricate blue and pink accents. The rectangular textile features a cream central field enclosing an ornate rust red floral medallion, surrounded by dense floral palmettes and detailed multi-layered decorative borders, finished with white fringed ends on both short sides. The dimensions measure 310 cm by 206 cm. Suitable for interior placement across living rooms, dining rooms, or bedrooms, the floor covering provides warmth and traditional decorative detail to residential spaces. The heavy weave lies flat on the floor, anchoring room schemes with its classic patterns and versatile palette.

FAQs

Persian-style wool carpets are traditional floor coverings characterised by intricate central medallions, floral palmettes, and layered decorative borders. Originating in Persia, these designs evolved over centuries to reflect regional weaving traditions and symbolic motifs.

These carpets are constructed using natural wool pile woven onto a durable cotton or wool warp foundation. Hand-knotting creates a dense pile texture, finished with fringed ends along the exposed warp threads.

Authentic hand-knotted rugs feature slight variations in knot consistency visible on the underside, which mirrors the front pattern clearly. Flexible backings and hand-bound selvedges are additional indicators of manual craftsmanship.

Positioning a patterned wool carpet in a living area anchors contemporary furniture by providing visual texture and colour grounding. Neutral walls and understated furnishings allow the central medallion to serve as a focal point.

Regular suction-only vacuuming without a rotating beater bar prevents fibre damage and protects the fringe. Professional dry cleaning and prompt spot treatment with cold water preserve natural dyes and wool integrity.
