Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE 1920s:
Oak drawer linings with neat dovetails: high-grade early twentieth-century cabinet work.
Carved strapwork pilasters on the pedestals: George III revival styling.
Book-matched flame mahogany veneers: carefully chosen cuts across all fronts.
Gilt-tooled green leather top: mellow surface fading from regular use.
Cast brass swan-neck handles: crisp early twentieth-century fittings.

This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 20th century Edwardian partners desk takes the form of an oval mahogany pedestal writing table in a warm brown timber colour. The top holds an inset green leather writing surface framed by a finely carved moulded edge and blind and gilt tooling, while flame mahogany drawer fronts throughout carry original decorative pierced brass swan neck handles and brass key escutcheons. Twin pedestals support the desk on a carved moulded edge and shaped plinth base, accented by intricate carved ornamentation on the vertical stiles. Measuring 75 cm high, 172 cm wide and 114 cm deep, the nine graduated oak lined drawers provide extensive storage for documents and stationery supplies. Placed centrally in a home study, library, or executive home office, this piece offers a generous double-sided workspace suitable for daily administrative tasks and computer use.

Originating in eighteenth-century Britain, partners desks were designed to allow two business partners, bankers, or lawyers to work facing each other at a single shared piece of furniture.

These pieces are commonly constructed using hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, often incorporating flame mahogany veneers, gilt-tooled leather writing surfaces, and solid brass handles.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, functional drawers or cupboards mirrored on both sides, original brass locks, and natural signs of aging on the timber and leather insert.

Position the desk centrally within a home office or study space rather than against a wall, allowing full access to both sides and framing it with contemporary task lighting and neutral textiles.

Apply a natural beeswax polish to the mahogany surfaces following the direction of the grain, use a dedicated leather conditioner for the inset top, and keep the desk away from direct heat and sunlight.
