Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Victorian Howard and Sons Beckett sofa in the English Country House style is a two-seater upholstered in grey geometric patterned fabric. The piece is constructed with timber framing, featuring turned timber front legs, brass castors, sloped arms, and feather seat cushions. The wood exhibits a dark brown polished finish. The measurements are 170 cm wide by 83 cm deep by 83 cm high, with a seat height of 50 cm and a seat depth of 55 cm. This seating item integrates into traditional or transitional living spaces, libraries, or studies. It serves as a comfortable focal point for a formal drawing room or a relaxed family sitting area when paired with complementary armchairs and occasional tables.

Originating in nineteenth-century London, Howard and Sons sofas are famous for their deep seating, low arm profiles, and superior comfort achieved through specialized coil-spring construction and feather-down cushion fills.

Authentic pieces traditionally utilise solid beech wood frames, steel coil springs, natural horsehair padding, and down-filled cushions, finished with turned wooden legs and brass castors.

Original examples typically feature stamped marks or names on the rear wooden legs, engraved manufacturer stamps on the brass castors, or signature printed ticking fabric underneath the cushions.

A classic English settee bridges traditional and contemporary decor when paired with minimalist architecture, neutral linen drapery, modern artwork, or clean-lined side tables.

Regularly plump and rotate feather cushions to maintain shape, vacuum upholstery gently with a soft brush attachment, and keep natural wood and fabrics out of direct sunlight.
