Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This hand-woven Luri tribal rug dates from the 1930 Persian Tribal period and is composed of soft wool. The textile displays a warm colour palette featuring an abrashed brick red and raspberry magenta field, alongside geometric orange, blue, and black tones. Three central stepped and linked cruciform pole medallions run down the middle, framed by intricate latch-hook borders, zigzag geometric patterns, and guard stripes with small checkered motifs. Fringes line the bottom edge of the carpet, showing gentle signs of age and wear along the extremities. Measuring 238 cm high by 131 cm wide, this soft woollen runner works well placed on living room or bedroom floors to add a traditional Glastonbury Boho warmth and texture to interior spaces. The rug is ready for everyday domestic use, bringing authentic tribal craftsmanship and rich colour to hallways, studies, or seating areas within the home.

FAQs

Luri carpets are woven by the nomadic Lur tribes of western and south-western Iran. They are characterised by robust wool-on-wool construction, bold geometric designs, and vibrant colour palettes derived from natural dyes.

These rugs are typically crafted entirely from hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and the foundation (warp and weft), resulting in a flexible, durable, and thick texture suited to nomadic life.

Authentic pieces feature slight asymmetrical variations in pattern and dye batch colour, known as abrash. The underside will show distinct hand-tied knots with uniform wear matching the age of the pile.

A geometric tribal carpet adds warmth and texture when contrasted against clean-lined contemporary furniture, neutral wall palettes, or natural materials like timber and leather.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating brush bar. Address spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth, and rotate the rug annually to balance sun exposure and tread wear.
