This 1930s mechanical pocket watch comes paired with an attached curb link chain, presenting an Art Deco aesthetic well-suited to a gentleman's library study desk. The timepiece consists of a nickel case with a circular glass lens, framing a white enamel dial marked with black Roman numerals, spade hands, and a subsidiary seconds dial. At the top sits a textured brass winding stem and a circular hanging loop. The watch measures 5.75 cm in diameter excluding the stem and loop, while the chain measures 35 cm long including the T-bar and clasp. The movement is signed, 'Non-Magnetic, The General Lever, Swiss' and uses a stem-winding mechanism. The dial shows a couple of surface scratches, while the case remains in clean condition. The watch and chain pair together inside a vintage presentation box finished in a dark reddish-brown leather with a gold-tooled border along the lid edge. The hinged lid lifts open via a split case construction, showing the interior lined with a fitted fabric bed. The matching curb link chain drapes alongside the watch on a flat surface, accompanied by a small rectangular acrylic display stand holding the watch upright.

A lever escapement pocket watch utilizes a mechanical movement where a lever mechanism controls the release of energy from the mainspring to the balance wheel. Developed in the 18th century and refined through the early 20th century, this design became the standard for precise mechanical timekeeping in portable watches.

Pocket watches from this era were typically constructed with nickel alloy, silver, rolled gold, or brass cases housing mechanical movements. Dials were frequently finished in white enamel or painted metal with Roman or Arabic numerals, paired with steel hands and glass crystals.

Authentic pieces feature hand-wound mechanical movements visible by opening the case back, often stamped with makers marks, jewel counts, or serial numbers. Look for wear consistent with age on the bow and case, as well as period-appropriate typography on the dial face.

A pocket watch with a chain can be worn traditionally in the waist pocket of a waistcoat or suit jacket, attaching the T-bar or clasp to a buttonhole. Alternatively, it can be displayed in a glass dome or desk display stand as an ornamental timepiece.

Mechanical timepieces require periodic servicing by a qualified horologist every three to five years to clean and lubricate the movement. Keep the watch in a dry environment, avoid overwinding the mainspring, and wipe the exterior case with a soft, dry cloth.
