Description

A particularly attractive and well presented antique mahogany chest of drawers. The antique chest features two over four graduating drawers configuration, offering a practical arrangement of storage, all fitted with turned wooden knob handles. The piece has pleasing proportions and a clean, classic form. The mahogany displays a lovely rich colour throughout, enhancing its overall appeal.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks and light scratches to the top, front and sides. There are splits to one side and to the right side of the top (pictured), however these do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. The chest remains structurally solid and sound, with the drawers running well. Overall, a good example of an antique mahogany chest of drawers.

FAQs

Victorian chests of drawers were produced during the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901. They are characterised by substantial proportions, dark hardwoods like mahogany or walnut, turned wooden handles, and practical drawer configurations such as two short drawers over three or four long drawers.
