Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique Persian Fereghan narrow runner rug dates from the period around 1900. Woven from a wool pile on a cotton foundation, it displays a deep navy blue and lighter blue field patterned with a central Herati-type floral lattice design, complemented by multi-tiered terracotta red and ivory borders featuring geometric and floral motifs. The carpet shows an all-over even pile, rebound side cords, stopped fringes, and a couple of small repairs along the right-hand border. It measures 340 cm high by 82 cm wide. Suitable for use in a hallway, corridor, or narrow walkway in an English country house interior, this floor covering adds traditional Persian character and warmth to a circulation space. The piece arrives de-dusted, washed, and restored, and is ready to lay directly onto the floor.

FAQs

Fereghan rugs originated in central Persia and are distinguished by fine hand-knotting, low pile, and dense repeating patterns such as the Herati motif. They traditionally feature deep navy fields balanced by terracotta, blue, and ivory accents within structured geometric borders.

Authentic antique Persian runners were hand-woven using natural, vegetable-dyed wool spun for the pile, knotted onto a sturdy cotton or wool warp and weft foundation.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-knotted construction visible on the underside, slight natural variations in colour known as abrash due to artisanal dye batches, and woven fringe integrated directly into the structural warp threads.

A long Persian runner provides anchor and proportion in long corridors or entryways, introducing rich colour and texture alongside neutral architectural walls, polished timber, or flagstone flooring.

Gentle vacuuming without a rotating beat-bar removes surface dust, while professional specialist cleaning is recommended for deep maintenance to preserve vegetable dyes and wool fibres.
