Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian walnut chest on stand combines a top section of two small and three graduated long drawers with a lower section containing four smaller oak-lined drawers. The piece exhibits warm brown timber tones, shaped brass handle plates with matching keyhole escutcheons, a shaped apron along the frieze, and cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. It separates into two distinct modular sections for transport and placement. Measuring 150 cm high, 104 cm wide, and 53 cm deep, the furniture functions as a practical storage chest for clothing or linens. It fits suitably in a bedroom, hallway, or living room within a period or traditional interior setting.

FAQs

A Georgian chest on stand is a two-part storage piece originating from the 18th century, comprising an upper chest of drawers positioned atop a separate low base or frame fitted with legs.

Georgian pieces were typically constructed with solid pine or oak carcases veneered in figured or burr walnut, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, featherbanding, and solid brass backplate handles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, irregular dovetail joints on drawer linings, natural shrinkage lines along veneer seams, and period-correct brassware fixings.

This versatile piece serves as focal storage in a hallway, bedroom, or living area, pairing effectively alongside neutral wall tones, modern lighting, and minimalist contemporary accents.

Maintain walnut furniture by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a natural beeswax polish twice a year, avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to central heating radiators.
