We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Ginbari is a specialised Japanese enamel technique where a textured or patterned metal foil is applied to the base body before the translucent enamel is added, creating a dimensional, shimmering effect beneath the coloured glass surface.

Traditional pieces typically utilise a copper or brass body, fine silver or copper wire to create the cellular compartments (cloisons), vitreous enamel pastes, and a foil backing for specific techniques like ginbari.

Authentic pieces from the Meiji era often exhibit meticulous wirework, subtle imperfections consistent with hand-craftsmanship, high-quality translucent enamels, and sometimes maker marks on the base rims or mounts.

Position the piece as a focal point on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side table, allowing its rich colour and intricate metallic texture to contrast against neutral surfaces and minimalist surroundings.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid liquid cleaners, chemical solvents, or abrasive materials, keeping the item out of direct sunlight to prevent fading of the enamel.
