The Queen Anne style emerged in England during the late 17th and early 18th centuries, characterised by graceful curves, cabriole legs, and a shift away from heavy ornamentation towards understated elegance and comfort.

Cabinetmakers frequently utilised native timbers such as oak and elm for structural frames, while employing sophisticated veneers like figured walnut or burr walnut for decorative surfaces, often secured with traditional dovetail joints.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut dovetails, original brass hardware, timber shrinkage patterns, tool marks, and the presence of secondary woods consistent with the period of manufacture.

Pairing historical wooden pieces with contemporary upholstery, clean-lined architectural elements, and minimalist lighting creates a balanced scheme that highlights the rich texture and warm tones of the antique.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and periodically nourish the wood with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes to preserve the finish.
