FAQs

Edwardian iron and brass beds gained popularity in the early 20th century as industrial manufacturing allowed for more hygienic, metal-framed alternatives to traditional wooden beds, combining durability with decorative elements.

These beds typically feature a combination of tubular wrought iron, cast iron components, and polished brass fittings or finials, often assembled using dovetail joints and wedges for stability.

Authentic pieces often show hand-finished casting seams, authentic period patina on the brass elements, traditional bolted construction, and dimensions that may require custom-sized mattresses rather than modern standard sizes.

Pairing a dark metal bed frame with neutral linens, textured throws, and contemporary lighting creates a balanced focal point that bridges historical character with modern minimalist aesthetics.

Maintain the frame by dusting regularly with a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive cleaners on the brass, and periodically checking and tightening structural bolts to ensure long-term stability.
