Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Bakhtiar rugs are traditionally handwoven by the Bakhtiari nomadic and village tribes residing in the Zagros Mountains region of western Iran. Known for their durability and distinctive geometric and garden-inspired motifs, these carpets represent centuries of rich Persian weaving heritage.

Authentic pieces are crafted using hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and the foundation warp and weft threads, often dyed using natural vegetable colorants such as madder root and indigo. They feature dense hand-knotted construction, which provides exceptional resilience and longevity.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the irregularity of hand-spinning in the wool, the presence of natural dye variations or abrasash, the structure of the fringe and selvedges, and the intricacy of the knot density on the reverse side.

An antique tribal rug adds texture, warmth, and historical contrast to contemporary spaces, working effectively as a grounding anchor beneath minimalist furniture or layered over larger neutral floor coverings.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without a beater bar, professional specialist cleaning when necessary, keeping the piece out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, and using a breathable underlay to prevent sliding and wear.
