Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian planter takes a rectangular trough form with rounded corners, smooth sides, and a rolled top rim in heavy gauge cast brass. The finish displays a warm brass colour with surface wear and slight tarnish marks visible on the metal. The piece stands 19 cm high, 53 cm wide, and 28 cm deep, providing a solid structure suited for daily domestic use. Position this planter on a deep window sill in a sunlit conservatory to display trailing plants, small ferns, or seasonal flowers. The robust construction holds soil and moisture securely while adding a traditional metallic accent to a living room, hallway, or kitchen interior.

FAQs

A brass trough planter is an elongated, rectangular container crafted from brass, designed specifically to hold multiple plant pots or floral displays indoors.

Historically, brass planters were constructed from sheet metal that was cut, folded, and brazed or soldered at the seams, often finished with folded or rolled rims for structural rigidity.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit solid weight, visible hand-soldered or brazed internal seams, subtle surface imperfections, and authentic oxidisation or tarnish rather than uniform artificial patination.

Designers frequently position brass troughs on deep window sills, sideboards, or dining tables, filling them with potted ferns, orchids, or succulents to contrast metallic tones against organic greenery.

To preserve unpolished patina, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth; to restore shine, apply a specialized metal polish sparingly, ensuring the interior is lined to prevent water corrosion.
