Description

Size: 7ft 11in x 5ft 3in (242 x 160cm).

Antique tribal Shekarlu Qashqai rug of classic design.

Circa 1880.

This classic Shekarlu has a madder red ground covered with tribal motifs, including shrubs, flowers, animals, birds, and the Shekarlu comb design.

The array of colours is outstanding including yellows, light blues and greens. The border is of typical Shekarlu design on an ivory ground, both ends have checker board finishes. The rug has a soft floppy handle.

The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium/low pile, there is slightly heavier wear in the lower right hand corner and the top left hand corner.

Hand washed and ready for use or display.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
