Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating from the South Caucasus region between the Black and Caspian Seas, Gendje rugs are traditional hand-knotted textiles recognised for their geometric designs, long narrow formats, and distinct vertical or diagonal stripe arrangements. They frequently incorporate repeating tribal symbols, such as the boteh or geometric stars, rendered in bold polychrome hues.

Authentic nineteenth-century Caucasian rugs are woven using hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and the foundation warps and wefts. The vibrant shades of red, blue, ochre, and green were created using organic, vegetable-derived dyes.

Authentic antique Caucasian rugs feature all-wool construction, hand-bound selvedges, and subtle colour variations known as abrash caused by hand-dyed wool batches. Geometric design asymmetry and hand-knotted fringe edges on the ends are key identifiers of authentic 19th-century tribal weaving.

Long rugs and runners function effectively in corridors, entryways, or alongside beds on polished timber or stone floors. Their strong geometric motifs and rich colour palettes introduce architectural structure and visual warmth to both contemporary and period interior schemes.

Regular care requires gentle vacuuming using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to avoid pulling the wool pile. A quality rug underlay pad should be placed beneath the rug to prevent slipping and reduce wear, while professional specialist cleaning is recommended for deep dirt removal.
