Skippings Fine Arts has dated this piece to the 1920s.

This atmospheric work of art was painted in 1920 by woman artist Marthe Yvonne Dumand (1892-1981). It was sketched or painted almost certainly outdoors, on the motif. I try to imagine the plucky 28 year old sketching in near obscurity, to capture her impressions.

Marthe Yvonne was born in Paris, and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais. The works she showed were praised in the Figaro newspaper as "fresh" and "graceful".
