FAQs

Antique brass beds gained immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, following advancements in electroplating and metal tube manufacturing that made metal furniture more accessible and durable.

These beds typically feature heavy-gauge brass tubing, cast iron internal components for structural support, and decorative brass castings welded or fitted onto the frame joints.

Authentic pieces often show natural patination, weight in the metal components, hand-finished joints, and construction techniques consistent with nineteenth or early twentieth-century manufacturing.

They can be integrated into modern spaces by pairing them with neutral textiles, crisp linen bedding, and minimalist decor to balance the metallic weight with softer textures.

Maintenance involves dusting with a soft dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that can strip the protective lacquer or authentic historical patina from the metal surface.
