A salatch is a traditional woven textile produced by Turkmen tribes, specifically used as a cradle cover to protect infants.

Yomut weavings traditionally utilise handspun sheep wool, often dyed with natural madder to achieve rich red tones, alongside cotton or animal hair accents.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-knotted or woven geometric guls, natural variations in wool dye, wool warp and weft threads, and characteristic braided fringe finishes.

Such textiles are frequently mounted and framed as wall art or displayed on neutral surfaces to highlight their intricate geometric patterns and deep colour palettes.

Preservation requires keeping the textile out of direct sunlight to prevent dye fading, avoiding excessive moisture, and gently vacuuming with a mesh screen attachment when necessary.
