Queen Anne Laburnum Chest

Queen Anne Laburnum chest

This Queen Anne Laburnum chest was made circa 1710.

It is rare to find a laburnum chest, usually laburnum is cut to use as oysters on the finest chests that are combined with walnut and inlays. but this chest is made using the less dramatic cuts of the tree. It looks very much like walnut, but the colour is slightly darker and the mouldings are harder.

We can only assume that this chest was made on a large estate by the country cabinetmaker using the surplus timber.

It has the usual combination of 2 short and 3 long graduated oak lined drawers under, all fitted cast brass engraved swing handles.

The top with quartered panels of figured veneer, all cut by hand

It stands on bun turned feet.

Just imagine how much storage you will gain and the pleasure owning it will give you.

97cms wide 38 1/4ins

54cms deep 21 1/4ins

90cms high 35 1/2ins

All dimensions are approximate, whilst we take as much care as possible, we can be marginally out.
