We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A Georgian miniature chest of drawers is a small-scale model of a full-sized chest produced during the Georgian period, typically used as an apprentice piece, a journeymans masterwork, or a salesmans sample.

These pieces were typically constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany or oak, featuring traditional joinery such as hand-cut dovetails on the drawer carcases and secondary softwoods for drawer linings.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct timber shrinkage, hand-forged or early turned wooden pulls, hand-cut dovetail joints, and natural age-related patination rather than artificial distress.

A miniature chest can be placed on a desk, console table, or chest of drawers to serve as functional storage for small accessories while adding historical depth and architectural interest to a room.

Preserve antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and maintain the finish by occasionally applying traditional beeswax.
