Circa 1900. A George II style burr walnut desk, top with book matched burr walnut, herringbone inlay and broad crossbanding with stylish and elegant moulded fore edge, with one long drawer flanked by a pair of shorter drawers, each with stylish cast brass escutcheons and handles with pierced and engraved back-plates. Beneath the center drawer there is a shaped frieze which continues around the sides, the desk rests on four elegant cabriole legs with quarter blocks, carved shells on the facings and finishing on a simple but elegant pad foot.
