Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Georgian fireplace accessories are characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and functional elegance, often featuring polished steel, urn finials, and delicate pierced work.

Traditional 18th-century fire irons were predominantly constructed from forged steel, wrought iron, and sometimes brass, often utilising hand-turned or cast elements for decorative finials.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-forged joinery, tool marks consistent with period metalworking techniques, natural oxidisation, and wear patterns appropriate to age rather than uniform modern machine finishing.

Antique fire irons can be displayed naturally beside an open hearth or basket grate, or mounted on a wall bracket as sculptural metalwork to add historical contrast to a minimalist setting.

Preservation involves removing light surface rust with fine wire wool or a microcrystalline wax, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners, and storing them in a dry environment to prevent further oxidation.
