Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III bureau bookcase is a two-part furniture piece originating from the reign of King George III (17601820). It combines a fall-front writing desk with drawers in the lower section and a two-door storage or display cabinet on top.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid mahogany or oak, often featuring flame mahogany or walnut veneers on door panels and drawer fronts. Secondary woods like pine or oak were used for internal drawer linings, accompanied by cast brass handles and escutcheons.

Authentic Georgian examples display hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-planed timber backboards, and natural wood shrinkage along panel joins. Look for original brass hardware marks, oak-lined drawers, and hand-cut steel screws.

Position the piece as a focal point in a home office, library, or living room, pairing its dark mahogany tones with neutral walls, modern art, and warm lighting to balance traditional craftsmanship with contemporary decor.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax once or twice a year along the grain. Keep the item away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent wood warping, veneer lifting, or finish fading.
