Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tibetan temple lions, often representing the mythical Snow Lion or Sengge, are sacred creatures in Himalayan Buddhist iconography. They traditionally symbolize protection, courage, and spiritual sovereignty, placed as symbolic guardians in temples and monastic spaces.

These figures were typically cast in bronze or brass using the lost-wax casting technique. Artisans then chased the metal surface by hand to refine details before applying mercury gilding or gold leaf to achieve a gilded finish.

Authentic period pieces display crisp hand-chased metalwork rather than modern machine finishing, natural wear to the gilding on high-contact areas, and residue from traditional core casting materials inside hollow bases.

Place a pair of temple lions symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or library shelf. Their metallic finish and sculptural silhouette introduce historical texture to contemporary or traditional schemes.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or soft brush. Avoid liquid metal polishes, solvent cleaners, or abrasive substances, as these can permanently damage delicate surface gilding and historical patina.
