An Isfahan rug originates from the city of Isfahan in central Iran, renowned historically as a major centre for master weavers producing finely knotted carpets featuring elaborate floral and vase motifs.

Traditional Isfahan carpets are typically constructed with a fine wool or silk pile hand-knotted onto a cotton or silk foundation, achieving exceptionally high knot densities that allow for intricate, curving designs.

Authenticity is determined by examining the knot count per square inch, the quality of natural vegetable dyes, the fineness of the weave, and the presence of classical Isfahan design elements such as Shah Abbas palmettes and elaborate floral vines.

An antique oriental rug adds texture and heritage to contemporary spaces by anchoring minimalist furniture arrangements or serving as a focal point in a neutral room.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without rotating brush heads, professional hand-washing by specialists in antique textiles, and avoiding direct, prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight to protect natural dyes.
