Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Thai bronze Buddha sculptures traditionally display specific artistic conventions, including serene facial expressions, elongated earlobes representing renunciation, and an ushnisha or cranial protuberance. Standing figures often depict distinct mudras or hand gestures, accompanied by stylized, flame-like topknots and geometric drapery patterns across the robes.

Historically, Southeast Asian bronze figures were crafted using the lost-wax casting technique (cire perdue). Artists sculpted a wax model over a clay core, encased it in a heavy plaster mould, melted the wax out, and poured molten bronze alloy into the resulting cavity before hand-finishing and polishing the cooled metal.

Authentic bronze pieces show signs of traditional casting methods, such as minor seam irregularities, core material remnants inside hollow bases, and hand-chased tool marks. Natural surface wear on raised areas and dark oxidisation within carved crevices indicate age rather than uniform artificial patination.

A bronze deity sculpture serves as an understated focal point on a dark wood sideboard, marble mantelpiece, or styled bookshelf. Pairing the warm metallic tones of polished bronze with neutral backdrops, natural greenery, or stone surfaces creates a balanced, curated display.

Maintain polished bronze by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive polishes, or water, which can stripped protective coatings; applying a thin layer of microcrystalline wax periodically protects the metal surface from oxidisation.
