Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian period oak dresser from 1750 reflects a traditional English country style with a rustic farmhouse aesthetic. The dark brown timber finish displays visible wood grain across the entire surface. The construction includes a two-section design featuring an open three-tier plate rack with a shaped frieze at the top, mounted above a lower base cabinet. The base incorporates three upper drawers fitted with small brass drop handles and central keyholes, positioned above three lower cupboard doors with visible iron H-hinges and small brass knobs. The piece stands on bracket feet and divides into upper and lower sections for placement. Measuring 196 cm high by 173 cm wide and 48 cm deep, the dresser provides substantial display shelving and enclosed storage. In a modern home, this practical furniture item suits dining rooms or kitchens for storing crockery, glassware, and tableware while displaying decorative plates on the open shelves.

FAQs

A traditional piece of storage furniture originating in rural Britain, featuring a base unit of drawers and cupboards paired with an open upper rack for displaying plates and glassware.

Traditional dressers are constructed primarily from solid native hardwoods such as oak, pine, or elm, accented with iron H-hinges and brass drawer pulls.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn timber markings, wooden peg joinery, historic ironwork or brass hardware, and natural wear patterns along drawer runners.

Balance the dark wood tone by displaying contemporary ceramics or light stoneware on the open shelves, placing the piece within a kitchen or dining room.

Position the piece away from direct heat sources and apply a quality beeswax polish twice annually along the wood grain to preserve the timber patina.
