Antique Georgian Oak Dresser

Description

An impressive and substantial antique Welsh oak dresser of good scale and quality. The dresser features a tall boarded rack back with three open plate shelves, flanked by twin spice cupboard doors with decorative inlaid diamond motifs, brass escutcheon and drop handles.

The base is fitted with an arrangement of five drawers with brass handles and decorative escutcheon, flanked by a pair of large panelled cupboard doors enclosing useful storage space within. The piece is beautifully detailed with contrasting satinwood style inlay throughout, rich figured oak grain and panelled sides. Raised on block feet. The dresser separates into two sections for ease of transport and installation. A wonderfully decorative and practical piece of traditional Welsh country furniture.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age and use. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches and fading consistent with use over the years. There are marks to the surface top of the dresser as photographed, but this does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece. The dresser is structurally solid and sound with all drawers running smoothly. It displays a rich colour and attractive patina throughout. A handsome and well-proportioned example of a large antique Welsh oak dresser.
