Description

Antique 19th century Victorian clerk's writing desk in oak, a charming and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship and a wonderfully practical design.

The sloping lid lifts on brass hinges to reveal a deep well for papers and stationery, with two small drawers fitted with brass knob handles beneath the flat top section, and the lid has a lock.

The slope has a neat moulded edge and the case sits on a moulded base, raised on elegant ring-turned legs ending in tapered feet.

The oak displays a stunning figured grain with lovely medullary rays to the sides and a warm, rich colour with a mellow patina.

Presented in good condition commensurate with age. Of compact, neat proportions, this is a very desirable small writing desk, a perfect addition to any study, hallway, bedroom or home office.
