Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This late Victorian rustic pine dresser base provides practical storage in a traditional farmhouse style. The piece displays a distressed ochre yellow painted finish over timber, complemented by contrasting dark green recessed panels on the cupboard doors. Three shallow upper drawers run horizontally above three lower cabinet doors, all fitted with small dark wooden turned knobs. Simple moulded details accent the drawer edges and frame the door panels, while visible surface wear, surface scuffs, and chipped paint textures reveal its authentic age and history of use. Practical dimensions measure 99 cm high, 127 cm wide, and 51 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this sideboard functions effectively in a kitchen, dining room, or hallway to store tableware, linens, or household items while offering a sturdy surface for display.

FAQs

A Victorian pine dresser base is a practical low storage cabinet produced during the late nineteenth century, originally designed for utility in country kitchens, sculleries, or dining rooms.

These pieces were typically crafted using solid pine timber featuring hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, tongue-and-groove backing, and wooden knob handles, often finished with durable milk paint or scumble graining.

Authentic original finishes display natural wear patterns around high-use areas such as drawer knobs and edges, subtle craquelure, and layered paint wear rather than uniform artificial distressing.

A painted pine dresser base functions well as a kitchen island alternative, hallway credenza, or media sideboard, paired with modern wall art or simple ceramics to complement the textured timber.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry cloth and avoid moisture or chemical cleaners, applying a light coat of clear beeswax sparingly to preserve the painted patina and protect the wood.
