Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This George II period dresser base uses figured oak with a dark brown finish and pegged joints to the frame. The moulded edge top sits above three inline drawers and an unusual shallow knife drawer to the left, fitted with brass knob handles and matching brass escutcheons. The front corners use moulded cabriole legs ending in pad feet, while the rear uses straight legs, complemented by panelled ends. Measuring 77.5 cm high, 200.5 cm wide and 53.5 cm deep, this long low sideboard provides ample surface space. Position this piece against a wall in a living room, hallway or dining room to serve as a practical surface for displaying decorative items while offering concealed storage. The substantial length makes it suitable for holding lamps, books or tableware, fitting naturally into traditional English country house interiors.

A George II oak dresser typically dates from the mid-18th century, characterised by classic proportions, functional drawer storage, and regional English craftsmanship often incorporating cabriole or turned legs.

These dressers were constructed primarily from solid English oak, featuring hand-dovetailed drawer joints, oak drawer linings, and cast brass hardware such as knobs or brass escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of age such as hand-sawn timber marks, natural shrinkage along timber planks, hand-forged iron fixings or wooden dowels, and genuine patination around handles and keyholes.

An antique oak dresser base functions well as a hallway table or dining room sideboard, balanced with contemporary artwork, minimalist table lamps, or structured ceramic vessels to complement the dark timber.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity fluctuations.
