A Large 17th Century Dresser Base.

Description

A large 17th century English geometric dresser base constructed from elm, fruitwood, and ash. The dresser has a two plank elm top with panelled sides, the front consisting of three moulded geometric drawers flanked by split turnings , the drawers having later brass drop handles but in keeping with the period. Below is a shaped frieze with four turned legs at the front joined by peripheral stretchers. There are a few old restoration and signs of wood worm damage in areas which is to be expected with elm and fruitwood of this age. some of the bottoms of the feet do require restoration and there are some losses, we can provide a quote for the restoration works to be carried out, should the purchaser wish to have this piece restored.

The dresser is in good solid condition and has a super colour and patina, this piece is a must have for a period house.
