London City Antiques has dated this Painted Satinwood Demi-lune Cabinet to the 1800s.
The magnificent large demi-lune top is beautifully decorated with elaborate original hand-painted floral garlands, delicate scrolling foliage, colourful flowers and a striking central fan-shaped motif in contrasting shades of green.
The generous proportions of the top provide an impressive display surface while showcasing the exceptional quality of the painted artwork.

The beautifully shaped frieze is adorned with delicate hand-painted floral swags, ribbons, rosettes and trailing foliage, continuing the elegant Neoclassical theme around the sweeping curved front. The attention to detail and harmonious arrangement of the decoration demonstrate the remarkable artistry associated with fine Georgian furniture.

The outstanding feature is the magnificent central oval painted panel, depicting a classical female figure accompanied by a cherub in a romantic pastoral setting. The composition is reminiscent of the celebrated Neoclassical paintings of Angelica Kauffman, whose graceful classical subjects and female figures were influential in the decorative arts of the Georgian period. The beautifully executed scene is framed by delicate laurel wreaths, ribbons and finely painted classical ornamentation.

The adjoining curved cupboard doors feature equally impressive hand-painted decoration depicting classical musical instruments, including a lyre, surrounded by elaborate floral swags, ribbons, scrolling foliage and delicate Neoclassical motifs. The exceptional quality of the original artwork is evident throughout, with the intricate designs beautifully complementing the warm golden tones and attractive figuring of the satinwood.

The elegant curved cupboard doors open to reveal a spacious interior with a fitted shelf, providing useful storage while retaining the sophisticated appearance of a fine Georgian commode. The whole stands on elegant short tapered and fluted legs with gilt detailing, completing the beautifully balanced Sheraton design.

The unusually large proportions are a particularly desirable feature, giving this magnificent cabinet an impressive presence while retaining the graceful elegance associated with the finest late Georgian furniture. The extensive original hand-painted decoration, extending across the entire top, frieze and curved cupboard doors, further distinguishes this piece from more conventional satinwood cabinets of the period.

A rare and outstanding example of George III Sheraton period craftsmanship, combining richly figured satinwood, exquisite Neoclassical painting and exceptional decorative detailing. Its imposing size and elegant semicircular design make it particularly suitable for a grand drawing room, entrance hall, dining room or sophisticated contemporary interior, where it would create a magnificent focal point.

A truly remarkable antique Georgian satinwood commode cabinet sideboard of considerable quality, rarity and decorative appeal, representing the elegance and artistry of fine English furniture from the late 18th century.
