Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the early 19th century during the British Regency period, a bowfront sideboard features a gently curved convex front facade designed to optimise space and enhance room flow, historically serving as a dining room piece for serving food and storing tableware.

Regency sideboards were typically crafted from solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers over pine or oak carcases, featuring hand-dovetailed drawer joints, turned or reeded legs, and cast brass handles or keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces often display reeded tapering legs, flame mahogany veneer panels, hand-cut dovetail joints inside drawers, historic lock mechanisms, and characteristic Regency decorative elements like fan-carved spandrels or tambour detail.

Positioned in a hallway or dining area, a Regency sideboard provides structured storage while pairing well with contemporary artwork mounted above and minimalist decorative objects arranged across the top surface.

Keep the woodwork away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying and fading, polish periodically with high-quality beeswax, and clean dust using a dry, soft lint-free cloth.
