Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau metalwork, prominent from the 1890s through the 1910s, is characterised by sinuous lines, natural motifs, and organic forms such as stylized foliage, water lilies, and whiplash curves. Craftsmen prioritized hand-hammered textures and decorative repousse work to emphasize artistic craftsmanship.

Planters from the Edwardian era were typically constructed from sheet copper or brass, shaped through raising, hammering, and seam-joining techniques. Decorative details were introduced using repousse hammering from the interior and chasing from the exterior, often finished with rolled or crimped rims.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of hand-craftsmanship, such as subtle variations in hammer marks, dovetailed or brazed seams, and natural oxidisation within low-relief areas. Markings from established metalware makers or Arts and Crafts guilds may also appear stamped on the base.

Position an antique copper planter on a sideboard, console table, or deep window sill to introduce warm metal tones into a room. Pair it with lush foliage plants, such as ferns or peace lilies, allowing the rich patina of the metal to contrast against organic greenery.

Maintain antique copper by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and avoiding harsh chemical cleansers that strip natural patina. If a polished finish is desired, apply a mild specialist metal polish sparingly, avoiding excessive buffing over delicate repousse details.
