Walnut Dressing Table with Triple Mirror and Stool

1900 - 1920
Description

An attractive early 20th-century Queen Anne-style dressing table, veneered in beautifully figured walnut and complete with its matching stool.

The shaped top is edged with carved decoration and fitted with a raised back supporting a large central bevelled mirror, flanked by two adjustable side mirrors. Above the central plate is a pierced and carved foliate crest.

The dressing table provides five useful drawers, each retaining decorative brass handles, arranged around a shaped kneehole. Carved floral details decorate the front corners, while the table is raised on elegant cabriole legs with acanthus-carved knees and foliate feet.

The matching stool stands on four similarly carved cabriole legs and has been newly upholstered in a neutral fabric.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Queen Anne revival dressing table is an early to mid-20th-century piece of furniture inspired by early 18th-century English designs. It features burr walnut veneers, shaped drawer fronts, carved cabriole legs, and an integrated triptych mirror arrangement.

These pieces are constructed with a solid timber carcass layered with highly figured burr walnut veneers. Hardware typically consists of cast brass handles, while the mirrors feature silvered plate glass.

Authentic period and reproduction pieces exhibit carved knee details on cabriole legs, dovetail drawer construction, brass drop handles with backplates, and matching veneer patterns across the drawer fronts.

Place the table near a natural light source to enhance mirror functionality. Pair the warm timber tones with neutral wall colours, understated textiles, and minimal glass or metal surface accessories.

Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer cracking or fading. Dust regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish periodically to nourish the wood.
