This early 20th-century Georgian Revival pedestal desk is constructed from dark brown mahogany with a brown inset leather top. The freestanding piece stands on four cabriole legs terminating in ball and claw feet, and incorporates seven drawers fitted with brass swan-neck handles and carved rope-twist moulding along the top edge. The desk measures 122 cm in width, 76 cm in depth, and 77 cm in height with 62 cm of clearance beneath the central drawer. Suitable for use in a gentleman's library or a home study, the pedestal design provides practical workspace and storage surface area for everyday administrative tasks or study. The configuration includes two lower pedestals flanking a kneehole opening of 54 cm in width, offering comfortable seating placement.

A pedestal desk features a flat rectangular surface resting on two vertical columns of drawers, creating a central kneehole space. Early 20th-century examples often borrow from 18th-century Georgian designs, incorporating decorative cabriole legs and inset leather writing surfaces.

These desks are predominantly constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods, paired with hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, cast brass handles, and leather writing surfaces with gilt tooling.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut or early machine-cut dovetail joints, unpolished secondary timber on drawer bases, cast brass hardware with natural oxidisation, and visible wear along drawer runners.

Position the desk as a focal point in a home office alongside modern task lighting and muted wall shades to complement the deep timber tones, pairing it with neutral upholstery or a contemporary chair.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the timber finish, keeping the desk away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber movement.
