A rare dated and very early antique Karabagh Kelleh with the most outstanding colours, typical of rugs woven in this region of Azerbaijan, they produced exciting and vibrant rugs as well as these longer Kelleh formats.  Woven with the islamic date 1264, this converts to 1848 in the Gregorian calendar.  The large boteh border and early colours are exceptional! This rare Caucasian kelleh is 178 years old and is in very good order for its age.

We can see some lower pile in areas, and a few old repairs in areas too, the whole charm and colours of this piece make it an exceptional one and a really beautiful long carpet, ideal for a hall, dining room or drawing room.
