This Regency period chiffonier is a side cabinet made from warm brown rosewood veneer accented with intricate brass inlay. The piece stands 127 cm high, 93 cm wide, and 45 cm deep, presenting a stepped upper structure with a raised shelf gallery, two small drawers featuring central brass knobs, and curved scroll supports. The lower section includes a pair of long drawers positioned above two panelled cupboard doors, flanked by cabriole-shaped brackets decorated with classical brass scrollwork motifs and fitted with small round hardware. The entire cabinet rests on elegant sabre legs and displays warm timber grain patterns throughout the polished finish. In a modern interior, this versatile side cabinet serves as a sophisticated storage solution in a living room, dining room, or hallway. The upper shelves provide display space for collectibles or books, while the enclosed lower cupboards and multiple drawers offer practical organization for tableware, linens, or household items. The refined proportions and classic Regency design integrate well into both traditional and transitional decor schemes as a functional and decorative focal point.

Developed during the early nineteenth century, a chiffonier is a low side cabinet featuring shelves, drawers, and cupboards, often designed to store household linen or tableware in formal dining rooms and drawing rooms.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency era frequently utilised imported hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, detailed with cut-brass inlay, cast brass mounts, and hand-cut dovetail joinery.

Authentic pieces typically display hand-cut brass scrollwork recessed flush into the timber veneer, accompanied by period-correct hand-dovetailed joints, solid oak or pine drawer linings, and age-appropriate timber movement.

A chiffonier functions effectively as a focal sideboard in a hallway or dining room, providing surface space for table lamps and decorative ceramics while contrasting classical proportions against contemporary architecture.

Keep the timber hydrated with high-quality beeswax applied along the grain, avoid placement near direct heat sources to prevent veneer lifting, and gently clean metalwork with a dry microfibre cloth.
