Description

Early C19th William IV period carved mahogany framed scroll-end sofa .

Stylish mahogany framed sofa raised on turned and carved feet fitted with brass cup castors on ceramic or ‘pot’ wheels. The carved mahogany scroll arms with carved leaf detail and large carved classical-style acanthus leaf motifs to the front . The front bar of reeded and moulded design .

The straight , moulded profile back bar with curved ends and having further carved leaf detail. The seat having a large loose squab cushion and with roll cushions to the ends . In an older, serviceable fabric covering which would perhaps benefit from reupholstering .

The frame in good tight , solid condition. In fresh-to-market ‘country-house’ condition , having been removed from a grade-one listed Warwickshire manor house .

The mahogany frame retaining the original polished surface with a deep, rich colour and patina . Some minor dents and marks commensurate with age and use .
