Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A 19th-century ladies writing table is a compact writing desk designed specifically for light correspondence, journal entry, and personal organization. Characterized by scaled-down proportions, these tables frequently incorporate raised side galleries, small drawers, and refined veneers such as satinwood or rosewood.

These tables were constructed using solid timber framesoften pine or oakfaced with cut satinwood veneers and decorative string inlay. Construction features traditional dovetail drawer joints, brass castors on tapered legs, and hand-fitted brass hardware.

Authentic period pieces show signs of hand-planed timber surfaces, irregular drawer dovetailing, and natural patination across the wood grain. Original lock mechanisms, natural shrinkage along veneer seams, and period-correct brass castors also indicate age and authenticity.

Place the table against a wall in a study, hallway, or bedroom to serve as a compact workstation, dressing table, or decorative accent surface. Pair the piece with neutral contemporary seating and simple lighting to allow the wood grain and structural silhouette to remain the primary focal point.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity variations to prevent veneer lifting or cracking. Clean surfaces gently with a soft dry cloth and apply natural beeswax sparingly along the wood grain to maintain the timber finish.
