Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

The Glasgow School style originated in Scotland during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as a distinct branch of the Arts and Crafts movement. It is defined by linear forms, geometric structure, stylized botanical motifs, and Celtic revival repousse work, frequently rendered in hammered brass or copper.

Planters of this era were predominantly constructed from sheet brass or copper. Artisans utilised repousse and chasing techniques to create raised decorative patterns against stippled backgrounds, securing components with rivets, folded seams, or cast metal feet and handles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit evidence of handcrafted construction, such as subtle hammer marks, hand-punched background textures, and stylized elongated motifs typical of the movement. Inspection of solder lines, riveted joins, and natural surface patination also helps verify age.

A brass jardiniere serves as a warm metallic accent when placed on a sideboard, console table, or deep window sill. Pairing the golden tones of the metal with dark leafy houseplants creates a visually balanced contrast suitable for modern or historic decor schemes.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to prevent dust accumulation. To preserve the metalwork, avoid abrasive cleaners; if polishing is preferred, use a specialized brass polish sparingly, and always insert a separate waterproof liner inside the container to prevent moisture from damaging the metal.
