Antique Saryk Turkmen torba face of small size, with 'kedjebe' design.
Circa 1880.
These torba were used to decorate the side of a camel during a Turkmen wedding procession, these were prized possessions and formed part of the wedding dowry. The were kept as heirlooms and displayed inside the yurt. This example is of fine weave, with a ridged back and weave typical of the Saryk Turkmen. The design is associated with weddings.

The torba is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile. The back has been removed at some time in the past. There is a very small spot of damage on the lower righthand corner.
