Rare Large Japanese Cloisonne Enamel 'Shrimp' Charger. Circa 1880.

Central panel decorated with a huge symbolic shrimp placed on a traditional Japanese low table (chabudai) used for dining. Further decorated and surrounded with foliage and flowers in deep blue, green, red and yellow enamels. The background rendered in deep green enamel and wirework of simulated clouds. The reverse with peony blossoms/flowers within stylised water droplets. (unsigned). The shrimp finely rendered in unusual pink and red enamels.

A rare Japanese cloisonne piece (Display stand not part of the Sale).

Condition: Excellent and original condition. No enamel losses. Display lighting used in some photos (including main photo) to capture the beauty of the vivid enamels.
