Description

A mid 19thc oil on panel landscape painting c1840. This delightful oil painting depicts a highland scene of a lake and distant village, set among hills and mountains on a peaceful summer day. A couple, wearing Scottish dress, admire the view, with small distant figures and sailboats. The scene has detail and depth, the colours are deep and rich but gentle and the paintwork is in very good condition. Reframed behind glass in a gilt frame, but with original panel makers stamp on the panel back.
